The house sits on steep, sloped land with an opening to the lake, where the owner wished for a refuge from the city for him and his family, a house with a compact but generous interior and exterior space for receptions.
When I saw the land for the first time on a winter morning, the lake had a strange grey, misty beauty; through the floating fog, the forest opposite the lake seemed unreal.
The design tries to answer to this special setting by a half level-split solution. Because of the slope, when entering the house the first image is framed towards the lake and also to the whole of the living area, which is half a level down. Half a level up, are the 3 bedrooms. The living room has high, sloped ceilings. At the level of the entrance, there is also an office space for when the owner does not want to break away with this place but still needs to run his business.
