This project involves the conversion of a building from the stage of the built structure, initially designed for office use. The building underwent massive changes in order to accommodate the needs of the first private maternity hospital – at that time – in Romania. Basically, only the slabs and the structure were maintained. The aim was to create a space of special comfort away from any hospitalization related stress.
The difficulty of the project resides in implementing the request generated by the functional circuits, the fire protection requirements, as well as accommodating the specific ventilation system given the height restrictions imposed by the previous office use that was designed with a technical raised floor.
The result is a small, specialized hospital with monitoring and consultation rooms downstairs, with 20 nursing rooms with individual toilets on the 1st and 2nd floor, an operating theater and 2 delivery rooms, from which one can accommodate water birth and an ATI room on the 3rd floor.
Built area: 1600 sqm
Basement, ground floor + 3 floors
Location: Brodina Street, Bucharest
